I have worked in professional sports all my life. Starting with the Phoenix Suns as a ballboy in 1975. I then moved up to gopher in the Suns offices in 1979 and eventually became the Director of Game Operations for the Phoenix Suns in 1987.
Harvey Shank and I were the people responsible for creating the Gorilla (Henry Rojas) in 1981. Henry asked if he could do a dance on the court...I asked Harvey, we were losing "what the heck" was the response.
In 1987 Henry retired and I was the person responsible for selecting and training the next Gorilla, Bob Wolfe. Harvey wanted a high flying Gorilla...so because of Harvey, the Dunking mascot was invented. That next year I started the Phoenix Suns dance team with it's original coordinator...Kimberly Lewis.
During my 16 years with the Suns the NBA brought me in to assist in running 8 NBA all-star games...no other Game Ops person in the league can make this claim. In addition the NBA flew me to Paris in 1987 to assist with the Paris Open...which featured the Lakers (and yes Laker Girls) against the world's top teams.
After I left the Suns in 1997 I started my own business running games (15 years with 3 time Arena Bowl Champion San Jose SaberCats), training mascots (over a half dozen NBA & NFL mascots) and representing half-time entertainment.
So my life is filled with connecting with professional athletes were I was able to secure some pretty great autographs.
WHY AM I SELLING?
I'm not selling everything, I am keeping a lot of great stuff...this is just stuff I consider "extra". I am keeping Cedric Ceballos' blindfold from his BlindFold dunk contest dunk. Charles Barkley shoes, Kevin Johnson shoes, Raider autopgraphed helmet, and individual autographs from greats such as Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Pete Rose, Jerry Rice and Jimmy Conners. As well as a personal Christmas gift from NBA Commish David Stern.
